As a domestic market, the European Union (EU) 'at 27 members and more' is clearly viable. As a political body, it can only be viable if it is based on a reformed project. As an active and recognized geopolitical center, it is not yet viable. What can link these three key dimensions - economy, politics, and geopolitics - is the elaboration, explanation, and promotion of specific European interests.Geographer and diplomat, Michel Foucher teaches at the Ecole normale supérieure (Paris). He is a member of the Council of Foreign Affairs (Conseil des affaires étrangères). Former Ambassador to Latvia and former Head of the Policy Planning Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
