Partners & Our Network
Since its creation, Ifri has cooperated with think tanks around the world and actively contributes to the main platforms that bring them together regularly. This ability to forge links that nourish collective reflection is at the heart of our profession.
Ifri is recognized by its peers as one of the main European think tanks. Among the international networks to which it belongs, we can cite:
Council of Councils
Council of Councils (CoC)
Created in 2012, at the initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the CoC is made up of 27 think tanks, including Ifri. It is designed to facilitate constant dialogue between institutes from Western countries and those from emerging countries on international governance. The CoC produces joint analyses and innovative ideas. Members meet each year for an annual conference and a regional event.
QUAD
QUAD
Since 1983, the QUAD has brought together the SWP, RAND Corporation, Chatham House and Ifri every year. Born at the time of the Euromissile crisis, this meeting between European and American think tanks brings together, in a Track 1.5 diplomacy format (track one and a half diplomacy), around thirty diplomats, military personnel, journalists and researchers around current geopolitical questions. Since 2023, SWP, RAND Corporation and Ifri have invited a 4th participant.
European Think-tank Network on China
European Think-tank Network on China
Launched in 2014, at the initiative of the Elcano Royal Institute and Ifri, the European Think-tank Network on China (ETNC) brings together experts on China from several European research institutes. ETNC is dedicated to the policy-oriented study of Chinese foreign policy, relations between China and European countries, as well as relations between China and the European Union.
Highlights
Support independent French research
Ifri, a foundation recognized as being of public utility, relies largely on private donors – companies and individuals – to guarantee its sustainability and intellectual independence. Through their funding, donors help maintain the Institute's position among the world's leading think tanks. By benefiting from an internationally recognized network and expertise, donors refine their understanding of geopolitical risk and its consequences on global politics and the economy. In 2024, Ifri will support more than 70 French and foreign companies and organizations.
