This week, Ifri, in partnership with CATS Network, is launching a series of five videos on the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, seen through the prism of the geopolitical rivalry between France and Turkey.
To better understand the standoff between France and Turkey, Aris Marghelis conducted a study on the French military’s perception of their Turkish counterparts. Even though the relationship between the two countries deteriorated quickly after the Syrian and Libyan civil wars, the French military kept a high regard for the Turkish army. According to Marghelis, they are perceived as ‘a challenge rather than a threat’.
