Registrations for the 2024-2025 cycle will open in June 2024!
The Nuclear and Strategy Network – New Generation was created in September 2015. This network is intended for students (Master 2 level, doctoral students, doctors) and young professionals (diplomats, engineers, journalists, etc.) interested in deepening their knowledge on military nuclear issues, in particular deterrence and non-proliferation.
The Network is administered by the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS) and Ifri, with the support of the French government.
The Network's activities operate on an annual cycle, following the academic calendar (October to July). Representing a total volume of eight to ten days per year, during weekdays only where participants visit sites and installations linked to defense and military nuclear power (in Paris and its region) ; participate in seminars and conferences of Ifri and the FRS and attend "summer" courses. Participants will also receive a monthly newsletter of information and analysis on nuclear issues, to which they will be offered to contribute. Finally, some of them may be selected (upon application) to participate in activities abroad. At the end of the year, participants will be offered to join the “alumni” network, whose members are invited to certain activities of future networks.
The eligibility criteria for applying to the network are as follows:
- The Network aims to build strategic succession: it is therefore aimed exclusively at candidates aged under 40.
- The Network is primarily aimed at nationals of the European Union or member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
- As the network's activities are in French, a good level of it is a determining criterion.
- For logistical reasons, candidates living in mainland France will be preferred; However, it is possible for people living abroad to apply.
- An investment in the Network (participation in visits and conferences, interaction with other members) is expected under penalty of exclusion.
- No specific professional path or academic field is targeted: the selection process will seek to ensure a diversity of profiles selected within the promotion. Around thirty listeners will be selected.
The administrators will cover the costs relating to the various network activities (transport, accommodation) for all participants.

Support independent French research
Ifri, a foundation recognized as being of public utility, relies largely on private donors – companies and individuals – to guarantee its sustainability and intellectual independence. Through their funding, donors help maintain the Institute's position among the world's leading think tanks. By benefiting from an internationally recognized network and expertise, donors refine their understanding of geopolitical risk and its consequences on global politics and the economy. In 2024, Ifri will support more than 70 French and foreign companies and organizations.
