Born in Vienna (Austria) in 1928, Stanley Hoffmann has been living in France since 1930 to 1955, year of his nomination as Professor at Harvard. He is teaching Political Sciences and French Civilization. In 1968, he creates the European Studies Centre at Harvard, whose he has been President till 1995. At the moment of Raymond Aron's death, Stanley Hoffmann offered to Politique étrangère this contribution, paying a tribute to his international look of a cleaver and realist liberalism.
