Abstract:


Since the mid-80’2s, the economic exchanges across Taiwan Strait have increased dramatically, making Taiwan’s economy more and more dependent upon the Chinese Mainland. However, Taipei has not given up anything to Peking from the political viewpoint. In that context, can the Taiwanese government follow a strategy aiming to separate the economic question from the political one?
